The Spanner Wood Gasifier following its "face-lift": The best timber power technology with a new look.

After five successful years of sales, the popular wood cogeneration plant by Spanner Re² GmbH has now undergone its first external revision. The first new models were delivered in May.

The most important innovations are visible on the outside: A newly developed, compact wood chip lock makes it possible to accommodate the plant in rooms with a standard ceiling height of 2.50 m. All heat-carrying components are now encased with a durable cover in addition to the insulation. Cables for sensors and actuators are now installed in cable ducts. A more efficient generator is used for the CHP, which further increases the efficiency of the overall system.
For its internal values, however, such as processes and components, Spanner sticks with what has been proven for hundreds of operators with a total of several million hours of operation: a compact reformer, condensate-free wood gas purification and an intelligent, fully automated process control system. Even the electrical output of the plants will remain at 30 kWe and 45 kWe, respectively, because this capacity is particularly well-suited for base load coverage of district heating networks. If necessary, several systems can be combined seamlessly.

"We are proud that we are now able to offer our proven wood cogeneration plants with a new look. This visual enhancement symbolises the continuous evolution of the past five years. We have achieved this, in no small measure, thanks to our customers," says Thomas Bleul, managing business partner at Spanner.

Across Europe, there are now several hundred Spanner wood power plant operators, who continuously contribute with great commitment to improving the plants. In recent years, a number of innovations have been implemented. Many of these technical improvements could be retrofitted into previously installed plants.
