Back in 2014, Nick Helme invested in two HKA 45 wood cogeneration plants, which have been supplying Wharton Farm reliably with heat and electricity ever since. A year later he decided to install four more wood cogeneration plants, which started operation in November 2015 and each produced 45 kW in electricity output and 108 kW in thermal output.

The Open Day not only offered the scores of interested visitors and wood cogeneration plant customers an exclusive look at the tried and tested multiple plants in operation, but also two informative workshops on efficient wood chip drying and innovative technologies to generate heat and electricity from wood.

One of the speakers was Dzintars Avatos, CEO of Bio Speck SIA. His company plans, installs and supervises a wide variety of Spanner Re² wood cogeneration plants in Latvia.
In addition to that, Michael Edward, a plant operator himself, also reported on his practical experiences.

The roughly 40 visitors were very impressed by the great wealth of the speakers’ experience and the many stimulating conversations.
