Striving for a sustainable and at the same time economical energy supply is a central issue for many municipalities. This is also the case with the Lower Austrian municipality of Kirschlag in the "Bucklige Welt". With its innovative energy concept, the municipality is now playing a pioneering role for many communities.
It was clear for the community leaders that a solution must combine environmental and climate protection with regional value creation. So a new woodchip-fired combined heat and power plant including district heating network was built. In the future, up to 675 households can be supplied with electricity and up to 250 households with CO2-neutral heat.
